AL ZAIN DIAMONDS
Natural diamonds, ethically sourced and hand selected by Al Zain’s professional gemologists.
WHY DOES AL ZAIN ONLY USE NATURAL DIAMONDS?
Diamonds are a mineral by definition. Born by ear th and carry a high resale value. The quality and colour of natural diamonds remain the same for centuries. Syntheticdiamonds have no romance, a low resale value and whether or not they change colour after years is questionable.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A NATURAL DIAMOND AND A SYNTHETIC DIAMOND
Two specimens of faceted crystalized carbon that appear to be identical. One, however, is a billion or more years old and the other was recently grown in a laboratory. Both are diamonds, of course. The natural diamond is a mineral created by forces deep within the Earth. The second, referred to as a synthetic diamond, is from alaboratory and possesses essentially the same chemical, physical and optical proper ties as its natural counterpart, but is not a mineral. Most synthetic diamonds requireadditional treatments like heat or irradiation to enhance or change their colors after the growth process. Since synthetic diamonds are produced in abundance, this makes them lack rarity and value. Also, the emotional and symbolic significance of natural diamonds lacks in synthetic diamonds.
HOW TO PICK YOUR DIAMON
CUT
Al Zain diamonds are cut to maximize light performance and beauty, not carat weight. Not to be confused with shape, thecut is the factor that fuels a diamond’s fire, sparkle and brilliance. Al Zain does not cut diamonds but carefully selects themfor best light performance, sparkle and brilliance.
COLOUR
Diamonds are valued by how closely they approach colourless. The less the colour, the higher the value. The international colour-grading scale rates diamond colours from D to Z. D representing colourless. Al Zain diamonds are known for their brilliance and fire and are mainly GH diamonds, which is near colourless
CLARITY
This refers to the absence of inclusions and blemishes. Diamonds without these birthmarks are rare, and rarity affect the diamond value. However, clarity alone is not a measure of rarity. Diamonds are assigned a claritygrade that ranges between (FL). Flawless to diamonds with obvious inclusions (I3). Al Zain mainly uses VS/SIdiamonds, carefully hand selected, ensuring minimum inclusions.
CARAT
Diamonds are weighed in metric carats and one carat is equal to 0.2 grams. The word "carat" comes from ancient Greek andmeans "carob seed." Carob seeds which are consistent in weight, were used to measure very small gemstones, since the seedswere very light. A seed was called a carat, so a stone that weighed one seed was said to weigh a carat.
