GOLD, GEMSTONES, PEARL

GOLD

Avoid wearing gold jewellery whilst performing tough physical activities as the gold may easily scratch or dent. Remember, the higher the carat count, the softer the gold becomes.

Beware of chemicals. Gold's worst enemy is chlorine. Repeated exposure can weaken gold's structure, eventually leading to breakage. So, keep gold jewellery away from chlorinated cleaning products and out of swimming pools.

To clean gold jewellery use a cleaning solution of soapy, lukewarm water and rinse in clean water. After cleaning always dry and polish with a soft cloth.

Proper storage is as important as cleaning. Protect gold jewellery from scratching by storing it safely in a jewellery box wrapped in a soft cloth separately.

Gemstones Care

To clean transparent crystalline gemstones, simply soak them in water with a touch of gentle soap. If necessary, use a soft toothbrush to scrub behind the stone.

Think twice before putting gemstones in an Ultrasonic cleaner. Diamonds and rubies and Sapphires may be fine but many other gems may not be; when in doubt, leave it out!

Avoid wearing your gemstones jewellery in a way that may cause individual stones to touch or scratch one another. Take into consideration that some stones are harder than others, and may break or scratch the softer stones. Despite diamonds being very hard, they too will scratch with constant contact with other diamonds.

Pearl Care

For routine care, it is best to wipe pearls with a very soft cloth after each wearing. Always store safely and separately wrapped in a soft cloth to avoid getting scratched.

Avoid wearing pearls in chlorinated or hot soapy water.

Avoid contact with chemicals such as hairspray or perfumes, it will most certainly cause serious damage. If pearls are exposed to the above, wipe over with a soft cloth to remove the residue.

Wear them. Pearls love being worn and can benefit from the skin's natural oils to help them breathe.

Never store for a long time. Like human skin, pearls need a little moisture so that they will not dry out.
